Obituary, Arthur Richard George

Stormville – Arthur Richard George, 68, an area resident since 1997, died on January 4, 2017 at Rosary Hill Home in Hawthorne. He previously lived in Carmel, Yonkers, and the Bronx.

Born in the Bronx on December 14, 1948, he was the son of the late Arthur and Winnifred (Kernan) George. Arthur was employed as an electrician for Local 3 IBEW in Queens for 30 years until his retirement in 1999.

Artie was a parishioner at St. Columba Church, and previously went to St. John the Evangelist in Mahopac, St. James the Apostle in Carmel, and St. Benedict’s in the Bronx.

Artie was a dedicated volunteer of the Stormville Fire Company of the East Fishkill Fire District since 1998, where he spent countless hours driving the ambulance. He will be remembered as a supporter of the East Fishkill Police Department and will be missed by all local EMS.

On July 13, 1984 at St. Benedict’s Church in the Bronx, Artie married Jane McClintock George who survives at home. He is also survived by his children, Christopher George and his wife Carol of Kent, SheriAnn Oakes and her husband Dave of Stormville, Anthony George and his wife Stephanie of Poolesville, MD, and SamanthaLeigh George of Quantico, VA; his grandchildren, Christina Oakes, Adrianna Oakes, Joseph Oakes, Christopher George, Jr., Sean George, and Rodel George; his siblings and their spouses, Richard and Rosalie George, Amy and Nick Bednarski, Cory and Phil Masullo, Laura and Louis Bartolotti, and James George; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He is also survived by his faithful dogs, Jack and Cheyenne.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 7-9pm and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The fire company will conduct a service on Friday at 8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday at 10 am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction.
