Bloomingburg couple arrested with loaded handgun

PRESS RELEASE

The New York State Police at Wurtsboro announce the arrest of Zachary Nevin, age 24 and Aryana Davila, age 17 both from Bloomingburg, NY for Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree a Class C Felony, Endangering the Welfare of a Child and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree both Class A Misdemeanors.

On Friday, December 30, 2016 Troopers from SP Wurtsboro stopped a 1995 Jeep Cherokee on Wurtsboro Mountain Rd by Dogwood Loop South. While interviewing the vehicle operator, Zachary Nevin, age 24, of Bloomingburg, NY, he told the Troopers that his license to drive in the state of New York was suspended to which the Troopers verified with NYS DMV. While performing a vehicle inventory on Mr. Nevin’s vehicle, a loaded handgun along with several prescription medications and packaging for heroin were recovered in close proximity to the front seat passenger Aryana Davila, aged 17, also from Bloomingburg, NY. Ms. Davila’s 11 month old daughter was an occupant in the rear seat of the vehicle.

Mr. Nevin was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree, Endangering the Welfare of a Child and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree.

Ms. Davila was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree, Endangering the Welfare of a Child and several counts of  Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree. They were arraigned before Town of Mamakating Town Justice Dolan and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail on $30,000 bail.
