On December 30, 2016 at approximately 4:00 a.m., the New York State Police was advised by the NYS Bridge Authority of a possible subject that jumped from the Bear Mountain Bridge.

An investigation revealed that a subject was captured on Bridge Authority surveillance video jumping over the north side railing, approximately mid span, of the bridge.  Several marine units from Rockland County and Westchester County, in addition to NYSP Aviation, searched the waters below the bridge for several hours without recovering the victim.

An unoccupied vehicle registered to Daniel Friedman, of Monsey, NY, was located parked on the shoulder of State Route 9D, on the Westchester County side of the bridge.  At this time, Friedman has not been accounted for and anyone with any information is asked to contact the NYSP in Cortlandt at (914) 737-7171.
