Obituary, Joyce Mary Hadden

 

Stanfordville – Joyce Mary Hadden, 94 of Stanfordville, NY passed away on Wednesday December 28, 2016 at Sharon Hospital in Sharon, CT. Joyce was born on April 12, 1922 in Flushing, NY. Along with her late husband Lester she owned and operated the Rhinebeck Sports Shop for 30 years before their retirement in 2001. She had previously been employed as a stenographer pool chief for the Sperry Gyroscope Company.

Mrs. Hadden was a parishioner of the former Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in Bangall, NY and a former elected official of the Stanford Town Board. An avid animal lover she was a breeder of Lhasa Apso dogs, a life member of both the Mid-Hudson Kennel Club and the American Kennel Club and a longtime judge for the AKC.

On February 6, 1966 in Syosset, NY she married Lester D. Hadden who pre deceased her on December 2, 2007. She was also pre deceased by a son, Douglas Hadden.

Survivors include her three sons, Bruce (Theresa) Hadden of Jupiter, FL; Richard (Veronica) Hadden of Tallahassee, FL and David (Ann) Hadden of Sarasota, FL. She also leaves five grandchildren, Jeffrey, Michael and Jennifer Hadden, Annemarie Briskie and Jamie Huffman along with nine great grandchildren.

Friends are invited and may call on Monday January 2, 2017 from 3 – 6 PM at the Funeral Home at S. Main Street in Pine Plains.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday January 3, 2017 at the funeral home at a time to be announced. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bangall, NY.
