Auto Accident on State 9G in Greenport leads to Felony DWI and other charges

On 12/29/16 at approximately 11:50A.M. the New York State Police at Livingston responded to an auto accident on State Route 9G near the entrance of Olana State Park in the Town of Greenport.  A vehicle driven by Julien Ketchel, age 31, of Greenpoint Road Catskill, was southbound on State 9G when, because he was driving too fast for the snowy conditions, he lost control of his vehicle, crossed into the northbound lane and struck another vehicle head on.Ketchel was transported to Columbia Memorial hospital for evalulation.  He was determined to be uninjured.  A passenger in Ketchel’s vehicle, Scott Hunter, also of Catskill was transported to Albany Medical Center for leg pain.

The operator of the other vehicle, Valarie Hail, age 60, of Red Hook,  was transported to Columbia Memorial Hospital with a broken arm.

Responding Troopers arrested Ketchel for Felony DWI, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 1st degree, Unsafe Speed and for Operating Without a License. He was arraigned in Greenport Court and remanded to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $2500 bail.

Troopers were assisted by Greenport Fire Department, the New York State Park Police and the Columbia County S.O.
