State Police investigate wrong-way crash that occurred on Interstate 684

PRESS RELEASE

 

Bedford, New York – On December 18, 2016 at approximately 11:30 p.m., New York State Police from the Somers barracks were dispatched to Interstate 684 in the area of Exit 4 for a reported head-on collision involving a wrong-way driver.

A preliminary investigation indicates that 30-year-old Steven Becerra of Carmel, entered Interstate 684 from the southbound Exit 4 ramp heading northbound in the southbound lanes.  Michael Duffy, age 42, of Yonkers, was traveling southbound.  Duffy was unable to avoid Becerra’s vehicle and the two struck head-on.

Duffy was transported to Westchester Medical Center and was treated for non-life threatening injures. Becerra is listed in critical condition at Westchester Medical Center.

The crash remains under investigation and updates will be posted to nyspnews.com as information becomes available.
