Theresa (Terry) Mary Stefka (1920-2016) passed away on December 5, 2016. Theresa was born in New Rochelle, NY, the daughter of Bernard and Mary Mullaney. Theresa was married to her loving husband Charles J. Stefka for 68 years, who passed in 2014. Theresa was a veteran member of the Marines during World War II. She worked at the League of Nations and 20th Century Fox offices in Manhattan, NY. She dedicated many hours to the Red Cross. Theresa loved her years in Pine Plains, NY, working with the Garden Club, creating floral arrangements for numerous fundraising events. She loved arts and crafts. She always brought love and laughter to those around her. She loved to sing and play the piano. Her husband’s military career led to frequent assignments and she was always active in the Catholic Church sharing her time and talents. Theresa will be remembered by her five surviving children Patricia Battles of Bradenton, FL, Charles Stefka Jr. of Norwich CT, Robert Stefka and wife Betty of Louisville, KY, James Stefka and wife Charlene of So Windsor CT, and Nancy Lovan and husband Gregg, of Boise, Idaho. She was the loving Grandmother of Brian, (wife Melissa), Andrew, (wife Kathleen), Ross, (wife Kenzie), Juli, (husband Sean), Brianna, Max, and step grandchildren, Matt, Katie, and great grandmother of Blaire, Mason, Nash, Max, and Clara. Theresa’s love and care of her family was most important in her life. Burial with military honors will be at the Sarasota National Cemetery. Time and date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Joseph Church, 3100 26th St. W, Bradenton, FL, 34205, in her memory.
