Ornage County Woman Arrested for Endangering the Welfare of a Child

On December 12, 2016, the Orange County Child Abuse Unit, which is comprised of members from the New York State Police, Village of Goshen Police, City of Port Jervis Police and Orange County Sheriff’s Office, arrested a 62 year old woman on the following charges:

One count of the class A Misdemeanor of Assault in the Third Degree.

Three counts of the class A Misdemeanor of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree.

Three counts of the class A Misdemeanor of Menacing in the Second Degree.

Three counts of the class A Misdemeanor of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

State Police arrested and charged NFN Michail, of Circleville, NY, following a report to the New York State Child Abuse Hotline stating that she pointed a firearm while caring for three children.  The children are 6, 13 and 15 years of age.  The investigation revealed that Ms. Michail was attempting to teach the children some type of lesson while holding the firearm in front of the children. During the course of the investigation, additional information was developed that she did cause physical injury to one of the children after she disciplined that child.

Ms. Michail was issued an Appearance Ticket returnable before the Honorable Judge Owen of the Town of Wallkill Court on December 13, 2016 at 2:00PM.  A request for an order of protection was made on behalf of the children.
