Underage Drinking Initiative in Northern Dutchess County

On 11/25/16, the NY State Police in Rhinebeck conducted an Underage Drinking Initiative detail where a 19 year old female (supervised by a plain clothed member of the State Police) attempted to purchase alcoholic beverages from local businesses. A total of 19 establishments were inspected which resulted in two businesses selling alcohol to the underage volunteer. Bourbon Street Liquors in Hyde Park and the Mobil Gas Station on East Market Street in the Village of Rhinebeck both sold alcoholic beverages to the 19 year old volunteer. The clerks at both establishments were charged with selling alcohol to the underage person and are due back in their respective courts at a later date. The NY State Liquor Authority assisted in this detail.
