The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office reports the investigation into a one-car serious crash which occurred on Feller Newmark Road in the Town of Red Hook at approximately 10:00 pm on 11-22-16.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that a 2004 Nissan 350Z being operated by Erik Johnson (age 17 of Red Hook) with Liam O’Farrell (age 18 of Red Hook) as a passenger was traveling eastbound on Feller Newmark Rd approximately ¼ mile east of Route 9. The operator lost control while passing another vehicle, at which time the Nissan left the roadway and struck a tree on the southern shoulder. Both occupants suffered life-threatening injuries and were transported to hospitals for treatment – Mr. Johnson was airlifted to Albany Medical Center and Mr. O’Farrell was driven by ambulance to Mid-Hudson Regional. Both were wearing seatbelts, and at this time the primary factor appears to be unsafe speed.
The Sheriff’s Office Crash Investigation Unit responded to the scene and is continuing to investigate the cause(s) of the crash. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Red Hook Fire Department and Northern Dutchess Paramedics, and more information may be released as it becomes available.
