Cold Case Tuesday: Troop K continues to investigate the 2005 homicide of 25-year-old Yonkers woman

New York State Police from the Hawthorne barracks continue to investigate the 11-year-old homicide of Angel Serbay of Yonkers, New York.

On September 3, 2005 at approximately 8:18 a.m., the New York State Police were dispatched to the northbound side of the Sprain Brook Parkway, just north of the Jackson Road overpass, to investigate the discovery of human remains.

A passing motorist contacted police after he observed what appeared to be a body covered by a yellow tarp discarded on the side of the parkway.

The victim, later identified as 25-year-old Angel Serbay, was discovered wearing jeans, a blue, white, and black striped halter top, and black New Balance sneakers.  The Westchester County Medical Examiner determined that Serbay died as a result asphyxiation by strangulation.

Serbay is described as a Hispanic female, approximately 5’4”, 138 pounds, with a tribal rose tattoo on her left upper arm, a tribal rose tattoo on her right ankle, and a tattoo with initials on her left hand. Angel was last seen in the proximity of 160 Willow Street in Yonkers at approximately 3:00 a.m. on September 3, 2016.

The death of Serbay continues to be actively investigated by police.  Numerous leads have been followed-up on throughout this investigation, however, this homicide has never been solved.
