On November 7th 2016, God recalled one of his angels on earth to join him so she could be an angel in heaven.
Kate Del Santo was born on January 13th, 1967. She was a mother of two wonderful and beautiful daughters Ashley Walsh of Poughkeepsie and Amanda Lane of Clinton Corners. They were and remain the apples of her eyes. On August 11th, 2000 Kate married the love of her life and best Friend Michael Del Santo. They met when Kate was a teenager in the 80’s and after years apart as fate would have it they met again and started dating in the early 90’s. On their Fifteenth Wedding Anniversary, they renewed their vows to one another in Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church to live together forever in eternity.
Kate was a beautiful woman and always dressed ‘to the nines,’ whether it was for work, out to dinner, or to a ballgame.  She was the World’s Best Mother and a Wonderful Loving Wife. Kate cherished her dogs Isabella and Penelope as well as her cat Vincenzo. She worked as a Pre-K teacher at St. Peter’s School for many years. She was loved and adored by everyone; she touched the lives of many children and families at St. Peter’s. The boys loved to help her and the girls wanted to be just like her. Kate loved going to the horse races, dining out and shopping in Rhinebeck and other small towns in the Hudson Valley. She liked to vacation on Martha’s Vineyard and in Lake George. Kate loved flowers and to decorate for the different seasons of the year. Especially, Christmas as it was her favorite season. She would often decorate as many as five Christmas trees in her home. She was a very talented decorator and often considered it as a career but ultimately she stayed at St. Peters to the delight of many and especially her dear friends Stephanie Green, Paula Jo Flynn, and Ann Kavanagh. Kate was a fabulous cook and loved to entertain as she often would for her friends and family. She was proud of her Husband’s Union, Local 138 of The International Union of Elevator Constructors. She considered herself the First Lady of Local 138 and had forged many friends throughout the whole International.
In January of 2015 Kate was diagnosed with Brain Cancer and she fought it with everything she had. She was the bravest and strongest woman as she fought this horrible disease. When it re-occurred in January of 2016 she fought even harder, determined to be at her daughter Ashley’s Wedding on July 23rd, 2016. She was the proud Mother of the Bride on that magical day and she welcomed in her new Son in Law Justin, who she absolutely adored.

Surviving Kate is her loving husband Michael Del Santo, daughter Ashley Walsh and her Husband Justin, Daughter Amanda Lane and her longtime boyfriend Brett Burkowske, which Kate hoped would be her son in law one day, sister in law Florence Willinger and her husband Ken of Massachusetts, sister in law Michelle Del Santo and her partner Susan Bauer of Colorado, mother Christine Harrington of Michigan, step mother Phyllis Harrington of Ohio, sister Bridget Moore and her husband Brian, sister Maureen Squier and husband Mark, sister Colleen Harrington along with several nieces and nephews. Kate was pre deceased by her father Edward Harrington and sister Alicia McKee.
Along with working at Saint Peters she was also a parishioner of St. Joseph’s in Millbrook. Kate wanted to thank Father Patrick Curley of St. Peter’s and Monsignor Gerardo Colacicco of St. Joseph’s who helped her through her final journey. Everyone adored Kate and are heartbroken to have lost such a wonderful person way too early in life. Now she will be a Guardian Angel in Heaven to watch over all of us. God bless her and May She Rest in Peace.
Visitation will be Friday, November 11 from 1-4 and 7-9 pm at 110 Fulton Ave., Poughkeepsie.
