He proudly served in the Army Air Force from November 1942 to August 1944. He became Staff Sgt. of the 93rd Bombardment Group and the 329th Bombardment Squadron.
On July 3, 1950 in Elkton, MD he married Mary M. Galgano. Together they spent 60 years together raising their family. Mary predeceased him on November 9, 2010.
Peter enjoyed hard work and had several jobs before retiring in 1983. He also enjoyed playing cards, socializing with friends and dining at his favorite restaurant the Daily Planet.
Peter is survived by his children; Peter and his spouse Peaches Gillette, Sue Basciani, David and his spouse Lynda Soucy and Mark and his spouse Dariann Thomas; grandchildren, James Basciani, Lauren Basciani and her partner Jaye Kutka, Joel and his spouse Erin Thomas, Seth and his spouse Kaleigh Thomas, Emily Thomas and Luke Thomas; seven great- grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Julie Masarech, Steven Thomas, Joseph Thomas, John Thomas, Andrew Thomas and Benedict Thomas.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 6, 2016 from 4 to 8 pm at 3270 Franklin Ave., Millbrook, NY 12545. Funeral services will be held from the funeral home at 7 pm with Military Honors. Interment will be in Verbank Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
