AT&T DOUBLES FUNDING FOR WASSAIC X WEBUTUCK PROGRAM

WASSAIC, NY— The Wassaic Project announces that AT&T has doubled its funding for the Wassaic X Webutuck program to $10,000 which will help support the staff and materials that make this program possible. Assemblymember Didi Barrett came to the Wassaic Project to thank AT&T representative Edward Bergstraesser for the support. “The arts are a portal for so many kids to find their connection to school and the world around them,” said Assemblymember Didi Barrett. “Many thanks to  AT&T for this increased funding for Wassaic X Webutuck, which has become such an innovative and effective initiative in the community.”

The Wassaic X Webutuck program school year partnership program brings competitively selected Wassaic Artist Residents into the art classes at Wassaic area high schools. These Wassaic Artist Resident Education Fellows share their work with the students and lead hands-on projects that explore central themes to their artistic practices. Through Wassaic X Webutuck program students work with exceptional artists, exploring critical thinking through creative problem solving, gain greater understanding of contemporary art practices, and learn about career possibilities in the arts.

“AT&T is pleased to support the “Wassaic X Webutuck” program and its commitment to Wassaic Artist Residents and Wassaic area high schools,” said Ed Bergstraesser, AT&T director of external affairs.  “It’s a real opportunity for students to work with exceptional artists, and explore critical thinking through creative problem solving.  Along the way, we hope that the students will gain a greater understanding of contemporary art practices, and learn about career possibilities in the arts.”

The Wassaic Project is proud to receive funding from the Warhol Foundation, Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation, the Malka Fund, New York State Council on the Arts, Arts Mid Hudson, Hudson Valley Community Funds. Donations are always welcome to support the Wassaic Project’s vital work in the community.
