Danbury Man Faces Driving While Intoxicated Charge

Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a Danbury man on a Driving While Intoxicated charge.

On October 17, 2016 at 4:03 a.m., Deputy Sheriff Kevin Radovich stopped a motorist who had committed a traffic violation on Route 6 in the Town of Southeast.

The deputy determined that the driver, identified as Mario A. De Paz-Espino, 29, of 233 White Street, Danbury, Connecticut was intoxicated. The deputy arrested Mr. De Paz-Espino and charged him with Driving While Intoxicated, a misdemeanor, after the man failed a series of standardized field sobriety tests. The defendant was processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility and held pending arraignement.

If found guilty of the misdemeanor charge, the defendant could face up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.00.
