WASSAIC, NY— The Wassaic Project announces the opening of its latest show, “Beyond The Way” a solo exhibition by Jeila Gueramian with an opening reception on Saturday, October 8th from 4 – 6PM at Maxon Mills in Wassaic, NY. The exhibition is free and open to the public. “Beyond The Way” will be on view through October 29th, during the Wassaic Project’s Annual Haunted Mill.

Jeila Gueramian’s “Beyond The Way” is an art installation journey that unfolds through exploration and discovery. The artist invites viewers to: “Come for a walk in the Witch’s Woods. Could the trees and flowers actually be watching you? Journey a little further to find a mysterious place. Dare to enter, who knows what you will find. Secret portals to fantastic realms? Passageways to an alternate multiverse? Wander with us through tricks and treats, and let your imagination run free.”

About the Artist
Jeila Gueramian graduated with a BFA from Otis Parsons School of Design in 1991. After graduating, she worked in art departments and costume design. Later she moved into making custom props, focusing on plush sculptures, puppets and fantastical costumes. In 2011, the artist refocused on her fine art with a six-month residency at The Wassaic Project, culminating in a large-scale installation. She has since done major installations at Mixed Greens Gallery, New York, NY; Allegra LaViola Gallery, New York, NY; and Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, Bentonville, AR. Gueramian currently lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.
