New York State Police Superintendent George P. Beach II is saddened to announce the death of Investigator Paul R. Stuewer.

On October 5, 2016, Investigator Stuewer passed away from an illness stemming from his assignment at the World Trade Center site following the terrorist attack on September 11, 2001.

Following the events of 9/11, Investigator Stuewer was assigned to New York City to aid in the search and recovery efforts.

Investigator Stuewer entered the State Police on October 1, 1990 and served with the State Police for 26 years.

Investigator Stuewer served as a Trooper in Troop K until his promotion to Investigator in 2004.

He was promoted to the permanent rank of Sergeant in 2005, staying in his most recent assignment as Investigator in Troop NYC for the New York City Drug Enforcement Task Force.

Investigator Stuewer is from Dutchess County and is survived by his wife, their children, and his parents.
