Obituary, Jean Howard Rebillard

Amenia – Jean Howard Rebillard, 88, a sixty three year resident of Amenia, NY died Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at Sharon Hospital in Sharon, CT. Mr. Rebillard worked for I.B.M. in Poughkeepsie for 17 years and for Greer Toyota as a service manager for several years. He was also an electrician at Wassaic Developmental Center for over 15 years, retiring in 1992.

Born September 20, 1928 in New Britain, CT he was the son of the late Jules and Inez (Milton) Rebillard. He attended New Britain area schools. Jean enlisted in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War where he served aboard an aircraft carrier in the Mediterranean Sea as an aviation mechanic. He was honorably discharged following his service. On July 25, 1953 at South Amenia Presbyterian Church he married Joyce Ann Roberts. Mrs. Rebillard survives in Amenia. Jean was a member of the Millerton Legion Post 178, Amenia Presbyterian Church, co- founder of the Webutuck Bowmen Archery Club which he co-founded with Dr. Carnes Weeks on Cascade Road in Amenia. He enjoyed feeding birds, snowmobiling and riding his ATV in his spare time. He was also an avid deer hunter throughout his life.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce, four children; Michele Davies, Annette (John) Culligan, Brad (Jeanne) Rebillard all of Amenia and Lisa Rebillard and her fiancé Tony Herbert of Wappingers Falls, twelve grandchildren, three great grandchildren, his sister, Shirley Hurley of Salisbury and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Jules Rebillard and two sisters, Bernice Hagadorn and Doris Carlson.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2016 from 10am-12pm at 37 Park Avenue, Millerton, NY 12546. Funeral services will take place at 12pm at the funeral home. Burial with Naval Military Honors will follow at Amenia Island Cemetery, 3359 Route 343, Amenia, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to the Amenia Fire Company, P.O. Box 166, Amenia, NY 12501.
