Joyce M. (Rundall) Robinson, 61, of Pawling, died Saturday, October 1, 2016 at home surrounded by family after a long, courageous battle against cancer. Joyce was a dedicated partner, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Her passion was her family and friends, where all that knew her loved her, as she touched everyone in a special and unique way, through compassion, love, understanding, and strength, always leading by example, showing the special person she was.
Joyce was a bus driver for the Pawling School District for several years, also working at the Quik Stop in Pawling until the family relocated to Redlands, CA where she worked for IHSS as a home health aide until July of 2015. She believed in education and became a registered home school in California, working with several kids, helping them become high school graduates. She played softball in the Pawling Rec Women’s League for several years, was an avid bowler on bowling in leagues in both Pawling and Carmel, NY. Joyce loved football and was a dedicated fan of the Buffalo Bills. She had a gentle heart and rescued several animals throughout the years. She enjoyed reading, cooking, sewing, camping, and fishing, as well as the company of family and friends, always provoking smiles and laughter.
She is survived by her life partner of almost 36 years, Patricia Sprague of Pawling, NY; 7 sons, Michael Robinson and wife Heather of Coushatta, LA, Paul Robinson and wife Sashia of Lake Carmel, NY, Christopher Robinson of Linwood, WA, Matthew Sprague, Jamie Sprague, and Luis Cervantes, all of whom live at home in Pawling, NY, and Anthony Portilla and wife Kelly of Redlands, CA; 1 daughter, Kelsey Tatum who also lives at home in Pawling, NY; her mother Myrna Kunic of Pawling; her father Allen Rundall and wife June of NC; a brother Jeffrey Rundall and wife Kris of Port Orange, FL; two sisters, JoAnn Miller and husband Joseph (Jere) Miller of Wingdale, NY and Jeanne Jobs of Wappingers, NY; 5 grandsons, Jonathon McGarey of Pawling, NY, Jared Robinson of Rhinebeck, NY, Michael (Mikey) Robinson of Coushatta, LA, Jayden Portilla of Redlands,CA, Austin Portilla of Redlands,CA; an uncle, Vernon “Bubby” Ballard of Cobleskill, NY; an aunt, Marlene Muckerman and husband Ed of New Milford CT; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Joyce will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A memorial service will be held Saturday Oct. 8th at 3:30 PM at the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 22 Coulter Avenue, Pawling NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Joyce’s memory may be made to a special fund being established for other Colon/Rectal Cancer patients and research.
