State Police at Liberty Arrest Newburgh Man for Violating Order of Protection

PRESS RELEASE

    On September 26, 2016 Troopers responded to a residence in the Town of Thompson for a report of an assault in progress.  Upon their arrival, they learned that Melbourne Ridge, age 39 of Newburgh had assaulted a resident at that address and then fled.  The victim was treated for minor injuries at Catskill Regional Medical Center. It was also learned that an Order of Protection issued in Orange County prohibited Ridge from having contact with the victim.  Troopers arrested Ridge on October 2, 2016.

Ridge was charged with Aggravated Criminal Contempt, a felony.  He was also charged with Assault 3rd Degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, misdemeanors.  He was arraigned in the Town of Thompson Court and released on his own recognizance.
