State Police investigate fatal one-car crash on I84

Kent, New York – On October 3, 2016 at approximately 2:00 a.m., New York State Police from the East Fishkill barracks responded to a one-car motor vehicle collision that occurred on Interstate 84 in the area of mile post marker 61.2.

An investigation revealed that an eastbound vehicle exited the roadway for an unknown reason via the northern shoulder.  The vehicle traveled approximately sixty feet into the median and came to rest after striking a rock cut and a tree.  The vehicle subsequently caught fire following the impact of the crash. The driver of the vehicle, a 58-year-old East Longmeadow Massachusetts man, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Also responding to the crash site were Lake Carmel Fire Department, EMStar, and the Putnam County Coroner Dr. Daniel Stephens.
