State Police superintendent appoints new second in command

Superintendent George P. Beach II today announced that Christopher Fiore has been appointed First Deputy Superintendent of the New York State Police, which places him second in command of the approximately 5,000 member Division.

First Deputy Superintendent Fiore will oversee the daily operations of Division, which includes Field Command, Administration, Employee Relations and Internal Affairs.

He first joined the State Police on March 28, 1989, as a Trooper in Troop K. He has served in numerous positions throughout his career, most recently promoted Staff Inspector, Field Command-Uniform. The First Deputy has also served in Troops L and T, and has held the position of Lieutenant at the State Police Academy, along with Major in Emergency Management/Special Operations.

Superintendent Beach said, “Christopher Fiore is an exceptional law enforcement professional who has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to helping New Yorkers throughout his 27 years with the State Police. He possesses the experience, dedication and leadership skills necessary to help us meet our biggest challenges. On behalf of the entire Division, I offer congratulations on his appointment to this important positon.”

First Deputy Superintendent Fiore graduated in 1983 from the Cornell University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Finance from Fordham University. He and his wife have two children, and live in Albany County.
