September 26, Lakeville, CT — The White Gallery opens”David Dunlop Paints the Northwest Corner”on October 7 with an opening artist reception on Saturday, October 8th from 5 – 7 pm.   A gallery favorite, Dunlop is a modern-day old master whose luminous landscapes draw from both Renaissance techniques and contemporary science.

“David was one of the first artists we featured when we opened in 2003, and we introduced him to the Northwest Corner.  He has enjoyed painting our area ever since. With his unique perspectives, vibrant colors and brushstrokes he creates either a sense of serenity or a sense of movement. His art captures the essence of where we live and why we live here,” said Tino Galluzzo, co-director of the gallery with his wife, Susan.

Dunlop is a painter and lecturer based in Connecticut.  He is also the engaging host and Emmy Award-winning writer

of the 13-episode PBS television series, “Landscapes Through Time with David Dunlop.” A veteran plein-air artist, Dunlop is not an artist to succumb to a plan, but instead, like Picasso, he follows the paint.  He paints what he sees, starting with free-flowing ambiguous gestural tangles of paint strokes, and creates meaningful imagery from it.

“The richness and luminosity of his oil paintings are enhanced by the anodized aluminum surface that he chooses to work with. The combination results in paintings that appear to change with differing light as does the natural world around us,” said Galluzzo. “We are pleased that he has chosen to continue to paint here over the years since he has produced a body of work that is simply beautiful and unique.”

Dunlop’s paintings have been shown internationally and are held in the collections of major corporations including Aetna Insurance, Citibank, Delta Airlines, GE Capital Corporation, IBM, Mobil and more.

The White Gallery is located at 342 Main Street in Lakeville, CT and is openSaturday and Sunday from 12 – 5pm or by appointment.  More information call 860-435-1029 or visit thewhitegalleryart.com or Facebook.com/the-white-gallery.
