Staatsburg – Wallace Wayne Wyant, 67, of Staatsburg, NY, passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie.

Born on July 22, 1949, in Rhinebeck, NY, he was the son of the late William R. and Leona (Smith) Wyant, Sr.

Wallace married Doreen Nickerson on June 6, 1970 in United Methodist Church of Red Hook and his loving wife of 46 years survives at home.

Throughout his career, Wallace worked as a truck driver. For the past 12 years and prior to his retirement, he worked as a truck driver for the Town of Pleasant Valley Highway Department. He also worked for more than 25 years driving for The Salvation Army. Wallace also worked for more than 40 years as a member of the “night crew” at the Dutchess County Fair.

Wallace enjoyed cultivating his garden and his fruit trees. He enjoyed NASCAR, and had an extensive collection of “bears”- some of which he created.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Cheryl (Scott) Irwin of Hopewell Junction, NY; his son, William Wyant, III of Staatsburg, NY; his grandchildren, Mackenzie, Sydney, and Delanie Wyant all of California, and Kiely, Colin, and Grace Irwin all of Hopewell Junction, NY; his brothers, George (Margaret) Wyant of Northville, NY, and William Wyant, Jr of Westport, NY; his sisters, Sandra (David) DeLor of Fort Ann, NY, and Tammy (Thomas) Tompkins of Stormville, NY; along with several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Friends may call at the Burnett & White Funeral Homes in Rhinebeck on Monday, September 26, 2016 from 4 to 7 pm.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, September 27th, 2016 at Burnett & White Funeral Homes, Rhinebeck, NY. Burial will be at Rhinebeck Cemetery, Rhinebeck.

Memorial donations may be made in Wallace’s memory to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital , 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
