Charles L. Whaley, 90, a lifelong resident of Dover Plains, NY died on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at Sharon Health Care Center in Sharon, CT. Mr. Whaley was a baker at the Wassaic Developmental Center for several years and later worked as a bus driver for the Millbrook School District.

Born on August 12, 1925 in Dover Plains, NY he was the son of the late Earl and Frances (Humeston) Whaley. He proudly served in the US Navy during World War II. On March 24, 1945 in Dover Plains, NY he married Frances Jane Murphy who predeceased him on April 8, 1983.

Mr. Whaley was the past commander and a life member of the American Legion Post #1949 in Wingdale, NY. He was a 61-year life member of the J. H. Ketcham Hose Company in Dover Plains, NY. Mr. Whaley also loved cooking and gardening along with hunting and fishing.

Mr. Whaley is survived by his two daughters, Shirley Jane Yeno of Millerton, NY and Charlene Carlson of Storm Lake, IA; two grandchildren, Richard Yeno and his wife, Dina Marie and Kristi Yeno Killmer and her husband, Ryan; five great-grandchildren, Danielle and Chelsea Yeno, Kaitlyn and Nate Killmer and Reagan Whaley and a granddaughter-in-law Holly Whaley.

In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Whaley was predeceased by a daughter, Mary Lou Whaley, a sister, Doris Whaley and a grandson, Jason Whaley.

Graveside services with full military and firematic honors will take place at 12 p.m. on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Valley View Cemetery, S. Nellie Hill Road, Dover Plains, NY.
