Obituary, Maureen A. Lonczak

 

Pine Plains, NY – Maureen A. Lonczak, 54, passed away on Monday, July 25, 2016 at Sharon Hospital in Sharon, CT.

She was born on July 24, 1962 in New York, NY the daughter of the late Edward A. and Frances “Lorraine” (Schafer) Croghan.

She was receptionist and typist for Pine Plains Central School District.

Maureen was a thoughtful mother who was always there for her family. While she enjoyed planning parties having an eye for detail, she was also passionate about gathering her family together. She never forgot a cousin’s birthday or an anniversary, as her family was dear to her heart. Being quick witted she was always the laugh of the party, knowing how to diffuse a situation with her banter. Maureen was the rock of the family, always holding everyone together tight and close. She poured herself into her daughter’s interests, teaching her that anything is possible.

She loved to decorate for all the holidays and was gifted at crocheting. She was an avid sports and theater fan for her daughter; never missing a game or play. Maureen was also very involved in the Rhinebeck Performing Arts Center.

On December 12, 1987 in Rhinebeck, NY she married Bernard A. Lonczak II. He survives her at home.

Survivors include her beloved husband, Bernie, of Pine Plains, NY; a daughter, Anna L. Lonczak of Pine Plains, NY; a brother, Brian Croghan of Pine Plains, NY; a sister, Patricia Diaz of Moosup, CT; four nieces, Kaitlin, Riley, Alice, Samantha and two nephews, Joseph and Andrew as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, July 29, 2016 from 4 to 7 PM at 7749 S Main St, Pine Plains, Pine Plains, NY. Prayers will be offered at 6 pm at funeral home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at St. Christopher’s Church, Red Hook, NY; with Fr. Patrick Buckley, officiating.

Interment will be private and at the convenience of family.
