Obituary, Ronnie Smith

Pine Plains, NY – On July 20th we lost my brother, Ronnie Smith, after a short battle with cancer. Ronnie loved Millerton and being a barber serving the tri-state area for the past 56 years. Because of the love he felt for Millerton and his shop, it was an extremely difficult process for him to close his barbershop a few weeks before passing.

During his illness, he spoke to me often with boundless appreciation for his loyal customers, and for all of the support they offered to him during his last few months. He truly appreciated his long-time friends as well as the close relatives who made frequent phone calls and visits.

I would also like to express my personal gratitude to his wife, Judy, for sharing her love with him in the last years of his life, which gave him so much happiness. Her strength, commitment, care, and love for him, not only during his final days, but since they have been together, were extraordinary and heartwarming.

In addition, Judy’s children and grandchildren were miracle workers providing many hours and much hard work closing out his barbershop, and helping to sell his items. They also maintained his residence and spent many hours by his side. I know he felt blessed with all of the love, support, and kindness shown him. I will miss him, and everyone who knew him will also miss him.

His sister, Sally
