State Police are seeking the public’s assistance to help locate a missing Union Vale man

Union Vale, New York – The New York State Police from Poughkeepsie are searching for a 59-year-old Taconic DDSO group home resident who walked away from the home which is located on Verbank Club Road.

Joseph O’Brien of 90 Verbank Club Road in Union Vale left the residence and entered a wooded area.  Mr. O’Brien is described as a white mentally handicapped male, who was last seen wearing a T-shirt.  Mr. O’Brien is reported to be bald.

Officers on scene are attempting to gather additional information and a photograph of Mr. O’Brien.  Updates will posted to nyspnews.com as they become available.

So local residents are aware, State Police Bloodhound Wiltse will be searching the area for O’Brien.  State Police Aviation may additionally deploy if weather permits.

Anyone who comes in contact with Mr. O’Brien is asked to call (845) 677-7300 or 911.

**UPDATE**

Mr. O’Brien is 5’10” and weighs approximately 160-180 pounds. He was last seen wearing a T-shirt and shorts.   He is also described as having scabs or abrasions on his balding scalp.

It is believed that he left the group home at approximately 11:30 a.m. this morning, walked down Verbank Club Road to State Route 82, and may be hitchhiking to get to the Brewster or Pawling area.
