Come for Fun-Filled Family Day!

Want to see smiles appear like magic? Come to Family Day at the Sherman Historical Society, Saturday, July 16, starting at 3 pm. Bring chairs and blankets for seating; the refreshments are on us!

The headliner for the afternoon will be famed Mario “the Magician” Marchese, who is known for using innovative props of his own creation to put on a magical show like no other. Come and be awed, be wowed, be astonished and laugh a lot, too! Mario has appeared on “Sesame Street,” the Sprout Channel and live at Lincoln Center for the Performing arts (to name but a few), and is the subject of an award-winning indie documentary, “Building Magic.”

But before his show at 4 pm, we’ve got lots of fun in store for you!

There will be music by noted local musician Al Burgasser, and a book reading and signing/sale of the newly released (special, limited edition hardcover) children’s book, “Slippery Soap!” by Doris Tomaselli and Carol Paterno.

We’ll host a special “Wooden Nickel” raffle for a signed copy of “Slippery Soap!” Anyone who brings one of these wooden nickels handed out by the Historical Society at the Memorial Day Parade and other events can enter the raffle drawing, so be sure to bring yours!

But wait, there’s more! Games and activities, and the Historical Society will be making fresh popcorn and ice cream too. Yum! You won’t want to miss anything!

Tickets for this event will be $25/family, $10/individual, which help to support the Historical Society, and will be available at the event itself. The Sherman Historical Society is located at 10 Rte 37 Center in Sherman, CT. Convenient parking nearby.

We hope to see you there!
