A 14-year-old Mahopac boy is on life support after being hit by a car while riding a skateboard on Monday

 

CARMEL – Michael Bongiovanni A 14-year-old Mahopac boy is on life support after being hit by a car while riding a skateboard on Monday.

Bongiovanni was flown by helicopter to Westchester Medical Center in critical condition with a severe head injury, Bongiovanni was not wearing a helmet.

Bongiovanni was riding a skateboard south on Brookside Road when he was hit shortly before 6 p.m. Police said they believe he rode through a stop sign into the intersection with Kia Ora Boulevard, where a 55-year-old Mahopac woman driving west struck him.

Police arriving on scene found neighbors performing CPR on the boy, who was unresponsive. State police and Mahopac firefighters also responded.

No charges have been filed against the driver.
