Yonkers woman charged with unlawfully collecting unemployment benefits

White Plains, New York – On February 22, 2015, New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation from the Hawthorne barracks arrested Aturah Mackey, age 31, of Yonkers, New York, for Offering a False Instrument for Filing 1st Degree.

The arrest stemmed from a complaint received by the New York State Department of Labor Special Investigation Division which indicated that Mackey unlawfully collected over $6,000 worth of unemployment insurance benefits between October 2011 and May 2013. False business records were generated by Mackey when she certified weekly that she was unemployed when in fact she was gainfully employed.

Mackey was issued an Appearance Ticket for the City of White Plains Court on March 10, 2015.
