Wappinger man charged with passing forged checks

Wappinger, New York – On May 14, 2016, New York State Police from the Wappinger barracks arrested Julian Rodriguez, an 18-year old Town of Wappinger resident, for Forgery 2nd Degree, a Class D Felony, Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument 2nd Degree, a Class D Felony, and Petit Larceny, a Class A Misdemeanor.

On May 12, 2016, Troopers were dispatched to investigate a reported larceny.  An investigation revealed that Rodriguez had passed stolen and forged checks at two local banks.  As a result, he received approximately $880 in proceeds.

Rodriguez was arraigned at the Village of Wappingers Falls Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.  The defendant is scheduled to appear in the Village of Wappingers Falls Court on May 16, 2016 at 1:00 pm and in the Village of Fishkill Court on May 16, 2016 at 4:00 p.m.
