Pawling Rotary’s 5th Annual Golf Outing took place at the exceptionally beautiful Quaker Hill Country Club on May 12th amid abundant sunshine and good cheer, as members of the Pawling and Rotary communities came together to raise funds for the Roger Smith-Pawling Rotary Scholarship.  All dollars raised at the event will provide funds for two college scholarships donated annually to graduating seniors at Pawling High School, as well as the Pawling Rotary International Youth Exchange Scholarship, which will provide funds needed to facilitate an international educational and cultural exchange for a Pawling High School student and an incoming international student beginning in the 2017-18 school year.

Forty golfers enjoyed perfect weather as they spent the day on the Country Club’s award winning course. This year’s event honored the memory of Roger Smith, a former Rotary Club president and extraordinary community volunteer, who embodied Rotary’s motto of “Service Above Self.”  Several in attendance at the event dinner spoke glowingly about Roger, his life, and the far reaching influence of his volunteerism.  Speakers included John Ammaturo and Terry Stewart, event co-chairs, as well as Mrs. Betty Smith, who spoke briefly about her late husband’s love for the Pawling community.

Additional donations to the Roger Smith-Pawling Rotary Scholarship fund may be made directly to The Pawling Rotary Club at P.O. Box 443, Pawling, New York 12564.  For further information about the Pawling Rotary Club and their mission of supporting community youngsters, please log onto their web site at www.pawlingrotary.org.
