Hunter Miles Karen, 19, of Pawling and previously Liberty, NY, passed away on May 10, 2016.  Hunter was born March 2, 1997 in the State of Washington, the son of Hal Karen and the late Tammy Lynn (Sapin) Karen.  He attended Liberty, NY schools and in 2015 graduated from Trinity-Pawling School, where he was a member of the squash, baseball and soccer teams.  Hunter attended Michigan State University and was a member of the AEPI Fraternity.

Hunter spent many summers at the Winston Summer Camp in Monticello, NY, where he eventually became a counselor.  He had a special gift for mentoring the younger campers, for whom he was their caring protector.  Hunter also loved to travel and had the opportunity to visit the UK, Spain, Corsica and Uruguay.

Hunter is survived by his father, Hal Karen; his paternal grandmother, Helga Karen of Ferndale, NY, and his half-sister, uncles, aunts and cousins.  He also leaves Yvette and Simon Naylor of Pawling, NY.

He was deeply loved by this family and his many friends, who remember him as “Happy Hunter.”  His smile captivated all who met him.

Calling hours at Horn & Thomes, Inc. Funeral Home, 83 East Main Street, Pawling, NY will be on Saturday, May 14 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm.  A memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 15 at 2pm at Christ Church on Quaker Hill, Pawling.
