Obituary, Leonard O. Kistner

 

Leonard O. Kistner, 76, of Walton, NY, passed away at home on May 9, 2016. He was born January 14, 1940 in Poughkeepsie, NY to the late Otto S. Kistner Jr. and the late Dorothy E. Dimick. He graduated from Arlington High School and served in the US Army receiving an honorable discharge. He was the proprietor of L & O Sanitation then sold the business; was a bartender at the Doc’s Hollow in Millbrook, NY. He joined the Local 1000 as a laborer and later became proprietor of Automatic Insect Control Systems in Poughkeepsie, NY, all before retiring.

On May 26, 1979 Lenny married Sandy Perzanowski in Poughkeepsie, NY who survives at home. He enjoyed bird watching, trapping, fishing, hunting, had a great love for the outdoors, and gardening was his passion.

Lenny is survived by his wife; Sandy, 2 daughters that held a” very special place in his heart”; Wanda Buss and Laura Phoenix, grandchildren; Amanda and Austin Phoenix, a brother; Bernard and his wife CarlaLisa Kistner , a sister; Marie and her husband Arno Frank, and several nieces and nephews. He is pre-deceased by his parents and a brother; Raymond Kistner.

Family and friends are invited to meet Thursday, May 12, 2016, 9:15am at 39 So Hamilton St. Poughkeepsie, NY 12601 845-452-1840. Procession will follow to a mass of Christian burial, 10am at Holy Trinity Church with interment in the family plot at Calvary Cemetery Poughkeepsie, NY. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations are made to the House of Hope, 312 Chemung St., Sayre, PA 18840.
