PAWLING COUPLE, FRANK AND BIBIANA MATHESIS, RECEIVE SPECIAL RECOGNITION AWARD

The nonprofit group Neighbors Link Northern Westchester recently recognized a Pawling couple, Frank and Bibiana Matheis, with its Special Recognition Award for outstanding volunteer service. Both have provided pro bono expertise and advice to the organization, which gives awards each year in April, National Volunteer Month.

Bibiana Matheis is a freelance photographer and a long-time volunteer for Neighbors Link. She regularly provides pro bono photography for the nonprofit’s events and programs.  “Bibiana takes beautiful pictures of our annual gala and special events,” said Carola Bracco, Executive Director.  “Frank is our go-to guy for advice on marketing and communications strategies.” The Director of Corporate Marketing Communications for Curtis Instruments, Frank Matheis has advised the organization on how to best convey the mission of immigrant integration through the use of creative, yet practical techniques.

“If there were organizations like Neighbor’s Link when I first arrived in America as an immigrant from China, “ said Bibiana, “I think my English would be better. I am proud to support Neighbor’s Link in any way we can, because I see the impact it makes on families and children.”

Frank remarked on the importance of the mission of Neighbors Link, saying, “As an immigrant myself, I will help other immigrants. It is heartwarming and delightful to come to the office to see all the activities, from English as a Second Language to programs for families. It is encouraging to see the smiles and sparkles in the eyes of mothers and children. I know that I belong here.”

Headquartered in Mt. Kisco, Neighbors Link Northern Westchester has as its mission to strengthen the whole community through the healthy integration of immigrants. It runs essential programs for area immigrants, including ESL (English as a Second Language), adult education, workforce development and legal support services.
