Kent Man Charged With Petit Larceny

 Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a Town of Kent man on a charge of petit larceny.

On April 19, 2016 at 5:52 p.m., Deputy Sheriff Alexander Ruhe was dispatched to a report of a larceny at the ShopRite supermarket located at 184 Route 52 in the Town of Kent. A loss prevention employee had apprehended a man who had passed all points of sale without attempting to pay for merchandise. The employee indicated that he wished to file criminal charges against the man, identified as James M. DeRosario, 58, of 15 Pocantico Road, Kent. The deputy arrested Mr. DeRosario and charged him with Petit Larceny, a misdemeanor. The defendant was processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility and released pending a future appearance in the Town of Carmel Justice Court to answer the charge.

If found guilty of the misdemeanor charges, the defendant could face up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.00 for each charge.
