MOLINARO SELECTS OFFICE FOR THE AGING DIRECTOR
POUGHKEEPSIE — Dutchess County Executive Marcus J. Molinaro is announcing he has selected Todd Tancredi to serve as the Director for the Dutchess County Office for the Aging, following the retirement of former Director Mary Kaye Dolan earlier this year. Mr. Tancredi, 54, has served as Town of Poughkeepsie Supervisor for the past four years and has served senior citizens for nearly two decades.
“Todd Tancredi is a proven, capable leader who has been a staunch advocate for senior citizens throughout his public service career,” said County Executive Molinaro. “Todd has worked tirelessly to enhance and promote the services available to seniors in Poughkeepsie and I know he will bring that passion to the Dutchess County Office for the Aging.”
Mr. Tancredi currently serves as Town of Poughkeepsie Supervisor. He was first elected as Supervisor in 2011 and was re-elected in 2013 and 2015. He previously served as a town board member, representing the 6th ward, from 1992 to 2011.
As both Supervisor and town board member, Mr. Tancredi has been actively engaged with the town’s senior residents, chairing the Town Senior Committee and acting as the town’s liaison to several senior citizen clubs. As Supervisor, his primary initiative was to open a Town of Poughkeepsie Senior Center to host the various senior clubs and provide cohesive programming available to all of town’s seniors. The Senior Center opened in 2013 and has been an enormous success with weekly attendance growing every year. The Senior Center was recognized as the 2015 Outstanding Facility by the New York State Recreation and Park Society. The award recognized an agency that has shown outstanding and unique achievement in parks and recreation facility design and development. The Senior Center offers a wide range of programs that engage seniors in social, health related, fitness, educational and recreational activities, including exercise classes, yoga, Zumba, walking club, computer activities, brain games, and more.
Mr. Tancredi holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Marist College, is a lifelong resident of Dutchess County and has lived in the Town of Poughkeepsie for more than 25 years. After college, he worked in the banking industry and has also owned and operated a successful small business. He has represented the Town of Poughkeepsie on a variety of organizations, including the Tri-Municipal Sewer Commission, Dutchess County Supervisors and Mayors Association, Joint Town/City Water Board and the Zoning Board of Appeals.
As Director, Mr. Tancredi will be responsible for the oversight of the Office for the Aging (OFA) and its mission of planning, coordinating and providing an array of community based services to the elderly and persons who require assistance in the long-term care system, in an effort to promote independence, dignity and quality of life. Census data shows Dutchess County’s senior population (60 and older) has grown nearly 30% from 2000 to 2010 and today 1 in 5 Dutchess County residents are seniors.

County Executive Molinaro will appoint Mr. Tancredi to serve as Acting Director starting in mid-May. A resolution confirming his appointment as OFA Director will be presented at the Dutchess County Legislature meeting in June.
