Speeding motorist charged with felony drug possession following traffic stop

East Fishkill, New York – On April 16, 2016, the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation from the Wappinger barracks arrested Walker S. Van Zandt, 19 years old, of Studio City, California, for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 4th degree, a Class C Felony, Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument 2nd Degree, a Class D Felony, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor. Van Zandt was also charged with Unlawful Possession of Marihuana, and violating NYS Sanitary Code, which are violations.

On April 16, 2016, at approximately 10:30 a.m., Troopers stopped Van Zandt for speeding on the Taconic State Parkway in the Town of East Fishkill. An investigation revealed that he was in possession of a counterfeit driver’s license, cocaine, concentrated cannabis, marihuana, and bath salts.

Van Zandt was arraigned in the Town of LaGrange Court. He was released under the supervision of probation.  The defendant’s next court appearance is scheduled for April 20, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at the Town of East Fishkill Court.
