Obituary, Robert Lee Meineker, M.D.

 

MILLBROOK – Age 94, Robert Lee Meineker, M.D. was born February 24, 1922, in Albany, NY, to George Meineker and Beatrice Snyder Meineker. He attended the Albany Academy and received his baccalaureate degree from Amherst College. He received his doctor of medicine degree from Albany Medical College, Albany, NY. He served in the U.S. Army medical corps in Japan during and following World War II. He then trained in pediatrics at Boston Children’s Hospital and subsequently pursued training in adult psychiatry. He served on the staff of the Department of Psychiatry of St. Vincent’s Hospital of New York and on the faculty of the New York College of Medicine, Valhalla, NY, and maintained a private practice in Manhattan, NY. He was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Kormann.

He is survived by a niece, Mara Kormann Doughty of Staatsburg; NY, a nephew Leslie Kormann of Flintridge, CA; grandniece, Julie Doughty; and grandnephew, Jason Doughty.
