Obituary, Roberta Ann (Gaydos) Cersosimo

Roberta Ann (Gaydos) Cersosimo, 83, passed away Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie, NY.

A resident of Pawling since 1958, she was born in the Bronx on January 30, 1933 to Frank and Pauline (Levenstein) Gaydos and grew up in the Bronx.  She married Fred Cersosimo in the Bronx on September 27, 1952, and then again a year later on September 27th at St. Anthony’s Church in the Bronx.

Before retiring, Roberta enjoyed her work as a supervisor for the Foundation for Christian Living in Pawling.

Roberta was an avid reader, loved the sun and the beach; especially Hilton Head Island and Maine. She was a strong woman who enjoyed life, her family and watching the Yankees. Sundays were special days as she enjoyed cooking for her family and all she considered extended family (“there was always room at her table and plenty of food”).  But more than anything, she loved being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She is survived by her husband, Fred, at home in Pawling; three sons, Frank of New Paltz, NY and Robert and Michael, both of California; two daughters, Lynn Capozzoli and husband Michael of Poughkeepsie, NY and Cathy Conover and husband Fred of LaGrangeville, NY; four grandchildren, Sara & Joseph Capozzoli and Jesse & Christopher Cersosimo; great- granddaughter Cassidy McGuire, and many cousins and friends.

Family and friends may call at the Horn & Thomes, Inc Funeral Home, 83 East Main Street, Pawling on Friday, April 15th from 6-9 PM.  A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 11 AM; burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Pawling.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation or the Pawling Community Resource Center.
