Westchester County Woman Faces Drug Charges

Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a Westchester County woman on drug charges.

On April 2, 2016 at approximately 9:15 p.m., sheriff’s deputies assigned to the Narcotics Enforcement Unit (NEU), while patrolling the Lake Secor section of Mahopac, observed suspicious activity inside a parked vehicle. An investigation revealed that one of the occupants of the vehicle, identified as Candace Moran, 19, of Crest Drive, Yorktown Heights, New York had been injecting herself with heroin. Ms. Moran was determined to be in illegal possession of a hypodermic needle and a quantity of heroin. The deputies arrested Ms. Moran and charged her with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree and with Criminally Possessing a Hypodermic Instrument, misdemeanors. The defendant was processed and released pending a future appearance in the Town of Carmel Justice Court to answer the charges.

If found guilty of the misdemeanor charges, the defendant could face up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.00 for each charge.
