Obituary, Raymond J. McArthur

 

Red Hook – Raymond J. McArthur, 84, of Red Hook, passed away on Friday, April 1, 2016 at his home. Born on July 13, 1931, in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late John and Winnie (Munz) McArthur. Ray married Clare M. Ryan on September 8, 1962 at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Brooklyn, NY and she survives at home in Red Hook. For over 33 years, and until his retirement, Ray was a Fireman with the New York City Fire Department. He began his career in Ladder Company 132 in Brooklyn and when he was promoted to Lieutenant, he worked out of Engine Company 305 in Bayside, Queens. He was a communicant of St. Christopher’s Church in Red Hook, NY. In addition to his wife of 53 years, he is survived by a son, John McArthur of Lakeland, FL, his daughters, Kathleen McArthur and her husband Gary Hackmeyer of Red Hook, NY, and Jennifer Osborn and her husband Edward of Pawling, NY; along with his grandchildren, Mary Clare and Ryan McArthur, Aidan, Kieran, and Brody Hackmeyer, and James and Molly Osborn.

Friends may call at 7461 S. Broadway, Red Hook, NY on Monday, April 4th, 2016 from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 5th, 2016 at St. Christopher’s Church, Red Hook, NY. Interment will be private in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Red Hook. Memorial donations may be made in Raymond’s memory to the Weill Cornell- Trauma, Burns, Critical & Acute Care Center- 525 E. 68th St., New York, NY 10065.
