  • Consider running for the CCSD School Board. Three seats are up for election.  Candidates must be at least 18 years of age, a U.S. citizen and a district resident (for the past 30 days). Information and petitions can be obtained by contacting me atsdieck@carmelschools.org  Petitions are due by 5:00 pm on Monday, April 18, 2016
  • Westchester Putnam School Boards Association is holding a “Prospective School Board Member” workshop on Monday, April 11 from 6:459p.m. at the Education House, 5 Homeside Lane, White Plains, NY. If you are considering a run for the school board, this is a great workshop. Register at www.wpsba.org
  • Requests for transportation for private/parochial school and/or childcare locations for the 2016-2017 school year are due by TODAY April 1, 2016 to the transportation office.  Applications can be found on the CCSD Transportation website.
  • Come see the CHS Music Production Workshop’s production of “The Wizard of Oz!” Shows are this weekend on Friday, April 1 @7pm; Saturday, April 2 @2pm and 7pm and Sunday, April 3 @2pm. Tickets can be purchased athttp://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/2461735 and are $12 for adults and $10 for students/senior citizens.  Tickets will also be available at the door, but they’re selling fast and seating is reserved.   • Carmel students in all grades are participating in the 24th Annual Youth Art Month Community Art Exhibit during March. See student artwork at Anthony Jewelers, Gappy’s Pizza, Gold’s Gym, Healy’s Corner Restaurant, Kent Public Library, Kent Town Hall, Patterson Recreation Center, Patterson Town Hall, Putnam County National Bank, Putnam County Savings Bank, Putnam Hospital Center and Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union. Ceramics created by Mrs. Clancy’s students is on display at Patterson Library through April 21.
  • Parents as Partners meeting on Wednesday, April 6 at 7 p.m. There will be a review of elementary and middle school continuum of Special Education services for 2016-2017
  • Parent Seminar is rescheduled for Thursday, April 7 in the GFMS large café at 7:00 p.m. (originally scheduled for April 14). Topic: Anatomy of a Middle Schooler. Co-sponsored by the GFMS PTA and Pupil Services. Presented by Bruce Kelly of the Putnam Communities that Care Coalition.
  • Travel Abroad to Venice, Vienna & Prague for spring break of 2017. Informational meeting for parents interested in sending their child will be held on Thursday, April 7 at 6:30 p.m. in room 400 at CHS. The trip is open to all Carmel students who will be in high school during the 2016-2017 school year (the tour of China for 2017 has been canceled due to lack of inters).   • The CHS Junior Post Prom takes place on Friday, April 8. Volunteers are needed for decorating and chaperoning.   • The CHS Parents Association Merit Award application is now available.Applicants must be graduating with their class this June and must attend a technical school, 2-year college, or 4pyear college after graduation. Applications may be downloaded in the scholarship section in Naviance. Completed applications are due by 5pm on Tuesday, April 26.

George Fischer Middle School News
  • Save the date:  “The Anatomy of a Middle Schooler,” on Thursday, April 7 at 7pm in the GFMS Large Café.  Presented by Bruce Kelly of the Putnam Communities that Care Coalition and jointly sponsored by the GFMS PTA and Pupil Services.

  • Color-a-thon!!! KES has teamed up with KPS and MPES to participate in a color run on April 9 at GFMS. Keep in mind that you do not have to run, you can also walk!   • Talent Show–We have some talented kids! The KES Talent show takes place on April 29 @6:30pm at GFMS.
  • School Store will be open April 6 during lunch hours. Send your child with no more than $5 in a sealed envelope with their name and teacher on it. The PTO volunteers will be on hand to help children. REMINDER–if school has a delayed opening, the school store will be closed.
