Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a young woman from Connecticut on felony charges of Attempted Burglary and Criminal Mischief in Patterson

On February 29, 2016 at approximately 1:50 a.m., deputy sheriffs responded to a report of a burglar alarm at a liquor store located on Fairfield Drive in the Putnam Lake section of the Town of Patterson. Upon arrival, it was determined that an unknown suspect had used a rock to break the glass to the front door of the business. The suspect had apparently fled the scene when the alarm sounded. Criminal Investigators from the Sheriff’s Department Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI), working in conjunction with detectives from the Danbury Police Department, developed a suspect in the incident. The suspect was identified as Sara M. Sadler, 17, of 3 Candlewood Acres Road, Brookfield, Connecticut . On March 31, 2016, investigators arrested Ms. Sadler and charged her with Attempted Burglary in the Third Degree and with Criminal Mischief in the Third Degree, felonies.

The defendant was processed and turned over to the custody of a parent pending an April 14, 2016 appearance in the Town of Patterson Justice Court to answer the charges. The investigation into this incident continues, and additional arrests are expected. If found guilty of the felony charges, the suspect could face up to four years in a New York State Correctional Facility and a fine of up to $5,000.00 for each charge.
