Vehicle pursuit leads to multiple charges for a Walden man

PRESS RELEASE

03/18/16 – The New York State Police, Highland BCI announce the arrest of 34 year old Kenrick J. Jones, of Walden, NY, for Resisting Arrest, Obstructing Governmental Administration in the Second Degree and Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle in the Third Degree (all class A misdemeanors). Jones was additionally charged with Felony – Driving While Intoxicated, Reckless Driving (an unclassified VTL misdemeanor) and numerous vehicle and traffic law violations.

Troopers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle operated and solely occupied by Kenrick J. Jones for multiple vehicle and traffic violations on State Route 9W in the Town of Marlborough, NY.  Jones refused to yield to and stop for the emergency lights and sirens of a marked State Police vehicle and then attempted to flee and evade patrols by driving in a reckless manner and at high rate of speed. Jones ultimately lost control of his vehicle and collided with multiple fixed objects in the area of Bloom Street and State Route 9W, in the Town of Marlborough. Following the collision, Jones continued in his attempts to flee on foot and then physically resisted arrest but was ultimately taken into custody. The State Police were assisted by both the Town of Lloyd and Town of Marlborough Police Departments.

Jones was arraigned in Marlborough Town Court and was subsequently remanded to the Ulster County Jail without bail. Jones was set to return to the Marlborough Town Court on 03/22/16 at 6pm.  Jones is also currently under the supervision of New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision and is currently under investigation for violating the terms of his parole.
