Westchester Man Faces DWI Charge

Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a Westchester County man on a charge of DWI.

On March 14, 2016 at 1:41 a.m., Deputy Sheriff Kevin Radovich stopped a motorist who had committed a traffic violation on Peekskill Hollow Road in the Town of Putnam Valley. The deputy determined that the driver, identified as Austin F. Knoeppel, 22, of 1 Peekskill Hollow Turnpike, Cortlandt Manor, New York was intoxicated. The deputy arrested Mr. Knoeppel and charged him with Driving While Intoxicated, a misdemeanor, after the man failed a series of standardized field sobriety tests. The defendant was processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility and held pending arraignment.

If found guilty of the misdemeanor charge, the defendant could face up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.00.
