PRESS RELEASE

On March 13, 2016, the New York State Police in Kingston arrested Nicholas P. Kozack, age 36, of Stone Ridge, New York, for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI).

Kozack is employed as a police officer with the City of Kingston Police Department. Investigation revealed that Kozack was traveling southbound on Lucas Avenue in the Town of Ulster, when he failed to negotiate a left turn and drove off the shoulder striking a large metal sign post.  This caused the vehicle to flip onto its roof before it came to rest.  Kozack was transported by Mobile Life to Kingston Hospital.

Kozack was treated at Kingston Hospital and charged with DWI.  Further charges are pending due to the unauthorized use of the vehicle he was driving at the time of the crash.  He was issued a Uniform Traffic Ticket for DWI returnable to the Town of Ulster Court and will be processed at a later date.
