State Trooper helps Hopewell Junction woman deliver baby on Interstate 84

PRESS RELEASE

Kent, New York – On March 11, 2016, Trooper Christopher Liebler from the East Fishkill barracks was patrolling Interstate 84 when he observed a Honda Accord exit the roadway at mile post marker 69.3 and enter the emergency vehicle u-turn.

Trooper Liebler followed the Honda into the u-turn and conducted a welfare check on the vehicle’s occupants. Following an interview of the driver, Trooper Liebler  quickly learned that the front seat passenger of the Honda was in labor.  Trooper Liebler immediately contacted Putnam County 911 and requested EMS to respond to the scene.

Prior to Kent Volunteer Ambulance arriving on scene, Trooper Liebler assisted the Hopewell Junction woman deliver a healthy baby girl.  The baby, named Emma, was transported with her mother, to Danbury Hospital by Kent Volunteer Ambulance.
