News Alert: School Board Election

SCHOOL BOARD ELECTION

Please be advised that there are two 5-year term seats available for Dover UFSD Board of Education beginning July 1, 2016.

Petitions for nominating candidates for the office of member of the Board of Education must be filed with the Clerk of the District, by no later than 5:00 p.m. on Monday, April 18, 2016Such petitions must be signed by at least twenty-five (25) qualified voters of the School District, shall state the name and residence address of the candidate and the residence address for each signer.  Petition forms and other election related information will be made available to prospective candidates by the District Clerk upon request.  You may use the Nominating Petition provided by the District or you may make up your own nominating petition, which must be in the form and manner prescribed by Section 2018 of the Education Law.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR BOARD OF EDUCATION CANDIDATES

  • Must be a qualified voter of the Dover Union Free School District.
  • Must be able to read and write.
  • Must be and have been a district resident for at least one year prior to the date of the vote, but need not be a taxpayer.
  • May not reside with another member of the same school board as a member of the same family.
  • May not be a current employee of the Dover Union Free School District.
  • May not simultaneously hold another incompatible public office.
